The Dream Syndicate–Medicine Show (40th Anniversary Expanded Edition) 4X CD

REEDICIÓN. Esta reedición de lujo de Medicine Show llega

como una caja expansiva de 4xCD, recopilando 42 pistas de

Dream Syndicate que abarcan grabaciones en vivo raras,

sesiones de radio, ensayos, demos y material inédito de 1983 a

1984. Junto a él, el álbum original regresa como un LP

independiente, todo a través de Down There Records

(distribuido por Fire Records).

En 1982, The Dream Syndicate comenzó su propia compañía

discográfica, Down There Records, para lanzar su EP homónimo

de cuatro canciones y doce pulgadas, que incluía las primeras

versiones de 'When You Smile' y 'That's What You Always Say'.

Firmaron con Slash para The Days of Wine and Roses, seguido

por A&M para el álbum Medicine Show. Después de años, la banda se ha ganado el derecho de reeditar

Medicine Show como un conjunto de 42 canciones y 4xCD con 29 grabaciones inéditas de la era de 1983 a

1984. Para esta ocasión especial, The Dream Syndicate está resucitando su sello Down There, que será

distribuido por Fire Records.

Medicine Show siempre ha sido un álbum controvertido, incluso antes de que se grabara. Los adalides del

rock independiente se convirtieron en la primera banda de Paisley Underground en firmar con un sello

importante, contratar a un productor de rock convencional, cambiar de bajistas y pasar meses grabando

el álbum, después de haber sacado el anterior, The Days of Wine and Roses, en cuestión de horas.

Lo que revela esta nueva caja es que, como banda en vivo, estaban en llamas. Por primera vez, se incluye

la transmisión de radio WXRT completa de la cinta maestra original de carrete a carrete. Esto va

acompañado de ensayos y cintas en vivo de Kendra, grabadas justo antes de su partida.

Todo es parte de la historia: versiones tempranas y primitivas de canciones originales, muchas versiones
